Online Efficiency Optimization and Speed Sensorless Control of Single-Phase Induction Motors

Single phase induction motors (SPIM) are widely used in residential and commercial applications. Enhancement of efficiency SPIMs can lead to huge energy savings. This paper presents a novel mechanical sensorless control method for SPIM drives. In this method, machine learning algorithm is estimate the slip based on ratio main auxiliary winding currents. To enhance efficiency, terminal voltage reduced under light load conditions. The optimal operating implicitly obtained by equating currents its optimum value. point first calculated frequency from lookup table then updated using gradient descent algorithm. way, realized despite motor parameter variations. proposed scheme suitable low-power applications where working at different speeds torques demanded, such as ventilation systems various household appliances. Simulation results presented verify efficacy method.
